Araceli Gomez-Aldana

Reporter, All Things Considered Host

Araceli joins 89.1 WBOI as a reporter and local host for All Things Considered.

She is a graduate of Indiana University, where she received a bachelor's degree in journalism. While attending IU she interned at FOX59 and ABC7 Chicago. Araceli also had the opportunity to practice her reporting skills in Europe while studying abroad at the University of Seville, Spain.

Prior to joining WBOI, Araceli was the producer and host of HOLA Bloomington, WFHB’s Spanish public affairs program, and co-anchored WFHB’s Daily Local News.

Originally born in Guadalajara, Mexico,  Araceli was raised in Whiting, Indiana where she grew up playing sports and rooting for the Chicago Bulls, Bears and the White Sox. She enjoys running, playing tennis, traveling and trying new foods.

UPDATE: The total number of flu-related deaths has reached 293, that’s up four from last week.

 

For the first time this flu season Allen County reported zero influenza-related deaths.

 

Last year, Indiana ended its flu season with a total of 103 deaths.

Fort Wayne Community Schools

Fort Wayne Community Schools is the inaugural recipient of the Indiana Department of Education’s Title III Distinguished Indiana School District Award. FWCS was the only district in the state receiving the recognition.

Canterbury Student Diversity Coordinators and Tom Henry’s Youth Engagement Council hosted a Youth Symposium For Peace Through Equity And Justice. 

Allen County hospitals are lifting visitor restrictions, effective immediately. The restrictions were implemented in January as a precaution to the spread of influenza.


For the safety of patients and staff over the last 10 weeks, hospitals have been limiting visitors to two per patient at one time and only visitors who are at least 18 years of age.
