Fort Wayne resident, Kevan Chandler made national headlines last year when he and his friends devised a way to tour the European countryside, despite Kevan's lifelong battle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

In addition to Chandler's wheelchair, the team added a specially customized backpack to their travel gear, which mobilized Chandler for urban and rural exploration, and took turns transporting him along every step of the journey.

Now the odyssey continues, with the world premiere of their documentary film, "The View from Here," this Saturday at Cinema Center.

Though the screening is sold out, the team is busy plotting new horizons to conquer, and sharing their first-hand "travel tips" with others wishing to turn impossible dreams into reality.

WBOI's Julia Meek met with Chandler earlier this week to learn where all of these new adventures will lead.

Cinema Center's screening of "The View from Here" is sold out, but plans are being made to show the film here in Fort Wayne later this summer.

You can connect with, and learn about  all of their projects at the We Carry Kevan website.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
