Despite Vanishing Act, Young Magician Plans Career Transformation

Now a senior, Mary Eber is looking toward a "second career" in telecommunications.

Most kids love watching magic shows. But when Fort Wayne resident Mary Eber was ten years old, she took to the stage and made the craft her own.

Along the way, the tricks up her sleeve were honed by working with Dick Stoner, Terry Owens, and the International Brotherhood of Magicians, A.H. Stoner Ring 221.

WBOI's Julia Meek met with Mary, now a senior at Bishop Dwenger High School, to discuss the life of a young magician, and to uncover the secrets of her ambition.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
