Fort Wayne Children's Zoo Welcomes Baby Giraffe

Fort Wayne Children's Zoo

Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo welcomed its second baby giraffe last week. Giraffe mother Faye gave birth to a female reticulated calf on November 21 just before 11:30 am.

The newborn was named Thabisa, which is Swahili for “to bring joy.”

The zoo says Thabisa has responded well to early treatments and is already running around the giraffe barn. The zoo says it’s excited to have two giraffe calves in the barn for its 2018 season.

Thabisa brings the number of reticulated giraffe at the zoo to nine; seven are female and two are male.
