Fort Wayne Police Investigating Shooting Of Teen

A teenager was shot by a police officer on the southeast side of Fort Wayne Tuesday afternoon. The officer following up on an incident where shots were fired from the day before.

The Fort Wayne Police Department says on Tuesday at 1:30pm, Officer Robert Hollo was sitting in uniform in his unmarked car, when he was approached by three teens. When he walked out from the vehicle, the teens noticed Hollo was an officer and ran off.

As Hollo chased the teens, he thought he saw one of them with a gun. In response, Hollo shot at the boys four times, shooting one teen. The other two escaped.

No gun was found on the individual who was shot.

As of Wednesday, Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman Michael Joyner says it’s too soon for action to be taken or considered in response to the situation.

“It’s still very early in the investigative process,” said Joyner. “We are still actively looking for the two other individuals, and we haven’t had an opportunity to speak with the officer because of his rights, which are covered.”

Joyner says a gun was found in a vehicle in close proximity to Hollo’s unmarked car after the shooting took place, and they are investigating if and how it may fit into Tuesday’s situation. According to Joyner, the teenager remains in serious but stable condition.
