The animated TV special, "A Charlie Brown Christmas," has been delighting at-home audiences for more than 50 years.
Now, thanks to the Fort Wayne Youtheatre, it's coming alive this Friday--literally, in its local premiere at First Pres Theater.
With a cast of 51 talented Youtheatre actors portraying the whole Peanuts gang, and a trio of local musicians setting the pace for them with Vince Guaraldi's unforgettable music, audiences are invited to celebrate Charlie's traditional search for the real meaning of Christmas in a fresh, new way.
Eager to learn more about this ambitious undertaking, WBOI's Julia Meek sat down with Christopher Murphy and Ben Wedler, Youtheatre's play, and music directors, respectively, to learn first-hand how this beloved story, and its iconic music translates to the live stage.
