Breaking News:

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry has passed away after a brief battle with cancer.

Hop River Brewing Joins Downtown Improvement Scene

As Fort Wayne’s downtown riverfront activity continues to grow, Paris McFarthing and Ben Jackson are adding to the excitement, with a new business venture called Hop River Brewing Company.

Its future home is located on a 1.6 acre property in the Wells Street neighborhood, at the corner of Fourth and Harrison, and the team is working overtime to have the doors open, and beer flowing, by December.

This spacious facility in the Wells Street neighborhood will accommodate the brew works, as well as outdoor activities and entertainment.

For the inside story on what McFarthing and Jackson are brewing up, WBOI’s Julia Meek coaxed them away from the renovation site and into the studio to discuss the fermentation process that turned their passion for beer making into profession.

You can learn more about the venture, and upcoming community events featuring their brews at Hop River Brewing Company's website.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
