Parks Director Al Moll Announces Retirement

City of Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne’s Parks & Recreation Department director Al Moll announced his retirement Thursday morning.

In his 13 years as director, Moll’s efforts have led to greater private investment to the department and regular increases in funding from the City, which resulted in consistent investment to improve and maintain City parks. Moll was also a big player in bringing Fort Wayne’s riverfront development project to life.

Prior to his appointment to lead parks and recreation, Moll served as city controller in 2003 and deputy mayor in 2004 and 2005.

A successor has not be named as Moll’s replacement, but park board member William Zielke will lead the search for the new director. With Moll’s retirement effective March 30, the board hopes to have a new director chosen by the end of the month.
