Reading Into the Future: An Interview with ACPL's Greta Southard

The Allen County Public Library has been a part of Fort Wayne's social and cultural fabric since 1895.

What began as a single room in City Hall has grown to include a spacious downtown facility, with thirteen branches around the city and outlying communities.

In recent years, Fort Wayne has been cited as the Best Read City in the United States by Places Rated Almanac, due in large part to the library's collection and patrons' use of it.

With National Library Weekon the horizon, WBOI's Julia Meek decided to get a read on the scope of this well established institution, so she met with its new director, Greta Southard to discuss how the system stacks up.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
