Tracing Halloween from the Pop Culture Present to Its Ancient Gaelic Roots

If you've been busy carving pumpkins and crafting costumes this week, you're in good company. Halloween is one of the oldest holidays in the world, and one of America's favorites.

Curious to learn why we do what we do at this time of year, WBOI's Julia Meek was happy to learn that one local group, Sophia's Portico, celebrated the ancient roots of the holiday, originally known as Samhain.

This led Meek to invite Portico member, Sage Blackhart, into the Madge Rothschild Studios to discuss the history, lore and longevity of All Hallow's Eve
