WBOI News Earns Multiple AP Awards

Winners of the 2016 Indiana Associated Press Broadcasters Association Contest were announced Saturday, Apr. 15 in Indianapolis.  

The WBOI news team had entries in the large market division, and competed against broadcast organizations in Indianapolis, Chicago, Louisville, East Chicago, Fort Wayne and South Bend metro areas.  

WBOI earned the following awards: 

First Place: Best News Series, "Teen Mental Health," Lisa Ryan 

First Place: Best Feature, "Strange Salamanders Have A Lot To Teach," Nick Janzen/Indiana Public Broadcasting 

Second Place: Best Websitewboi.org, Katy Anderson, Zach Bernard, Julia Meek, and Lisa Ryan

Second Place: Best Use of Sound, "Sounds Of Summer Vibrant In Northeast Indiana," Zach Bernard 

Second Place: Best General News, "Conservation Practices Have Effect From Midwest All The Way To Gulf Of Mexico," Nick Janzen & Lauren Chapman/Indiana Public Broadcasting 

“Producing news that meets the highest journalistic standards is one of the main priorities of 89.1 WBOI,” said Peter Dominowski, President and General Manager. “These awards demonstrate both the high quality of our reporting, and the professionalism of our entire news team.”
