On Tuesday, October 21st, PBS39 hosted a debate for the candidates running for Indiana's third district congressional seat. The event was sponsored by IPFW and the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics.

This is the only debate in which the candidates will participate during the 2014 election cycle.

On stage for the event were incumbent Republican Marlin Stutzman, Democrat Justin Kuhnle, and Libertarian Scott Wise.

Parties hold parties to celebrate debate

The Indiana Republican Party is holding a presidential debate watch party Wednesday as President Obama and Governor Romney take the stage in Denver.  The state Democratic Party will likely host an event for the second debate.  

State Republican Party spokesman Pete Seat said the debate parties are a great way to connect with friends and fellow Republicans and experience the debates in a community setting.

Indiana's drought and the ethanol industry took center stage as the running mates in this year’s gubernatorial race took shared their views Wednesday at the Indiana State Fair in their only scheduled debate.  

As severe drought impacts most of Indiana, a debate over where the corn that does survive should go exists not just in the state but across the country.  And the ethanol industry is a major part of that debate.  Up to 40 percent of U-S corn crops could be needed to fulfill the federal government’s mandate for ethanol usage.
