Regional Cities Initiative


The Northeast Indiana Regional Development Authority, or RDA, announced today The Landing project in downtown Fort Wayne will receive tax credits, along with Regional Cities Initiative money, to help fund the $34.5 million project. The Landing is part of the Road to One Million, which aims to increase Northeast Indiana’s population.

The Regional Development Authority approved Regional Cities Initiative funding for two projects on Tuesday. The Embassy Theatre and the Dekalb County YMCA could receive grant money, but the Indiana Economic Development Corporation has it approve it first.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation awarded Northeast Indiana $42 million in economic development money last week. Two other regions were awarded funds, and that means the legislature needs to approve more money than originally planned.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation voted Tuesday to fund three separate plans for the Regional Cities Initiative. Northeast, North Central and Southwest Indiana could receive $42 million each, but the General Assembly still needs to approve the funding.
