"Blessings in a Backpack" is a national organization devoted to providing food on the weekends for elementary school children who might otherwise go hungry.
Fort Wayne's local chapter is getting ready to raise funds, and awareness for the cause this Tuesday, with its annual Celebrity Chef Fundraiser at Sycamore Hills Golf Club.
Begun in 2007 by Mike and Gretchen Gouloff, this continues to be an all-volunteer program, still run by the Gouloffs, and now feeds students at four of the city's elementary schools.
Earlier this week, WBOI's Julia Meek met with Melanie Hall, Blessings board member, and Director of Public Affairs for Fort Wayne Community Schools, to discuss our community's needs, and what Celebrity Chef Graham Elliot is bringing to this year's fundraiser table.
