Organization founder and president, Abigail King believes that advocacy, collaboration, aducation and hands-on projects will secure the future of our area's waterways

Saturday is Earth Day, and beginning this Friday, Save Maumee Grassroots Organization is making it a free, 3-day public celebration in New Haven, Indiana, with a goal of planting eleven hundred trees in the city's Moser and Heatherwood Parks.

This year's tree planting project is one for the group's record books, and has the potential to capture 64,900 gallons of water a year, while reducing the sediment load by over 253 tons a year.

Earlier this week, WBOI's Julia Meek met with organization founder and president, Abby King to discuss what motivates the group to tackle such an ambitious project, and how their efforts will take root to benefit the entire Maumee River Watershed.
