Fort Wayne City Council Candidates Will Discuss Livability

City of Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne city council at-large candidates are meeting for a public forum Friday. The event is sponsored by disability groups, and topics will focus on how to make the city more accessible.

Fort Wayne’s livability will be a main issue during the forum, according to Sheri Caveda. She’s the head of Fifth Freedom, one of the disability awareness groups that sponsored the event.

Caveda says these issues should be important to everyone.

“This is broader than disability. This is about access for people, disenfranchised populations, and for older citizens,” she said. “These really are community issues that also have a component related to disability.”

Caveda says candidates will be asked about their plans for public transportation and making sidewalks and roads more accessible.

The forum is also sponsored by The League of Women Voters, AARP and The League for the Blind and Disabled.

The event is Friday, October 2 at 6:00 at the Holiday Inn on Coliseum Boulevard.
