Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry discussed his proposed city budget for 2015 Thursday.

Totaling $150 million, the proposal includes 18 new recruits for the Fort Wayne Police Department, and improvement projects for neighborhood streets and sidewalks, as well as City Parks.

It also allocates funds for the 2015 municipal election.

Henry’s proposal also includes a small bump in property taxes for some homeowners. Residents whose property is valued under $90,000 thousand would likely pay about nine dollars more.

Mayoral spokesman John Perlich says that money would be added to the city’s general funds.

“That will be able to help us continue to provide those essential services such as police and fire, neighborhood, street, road, and sidewalk improvements," says Perlich. "All of those departments that our residents have come to expect excellent services in, and so we’ll be able to continue to do that.”

Administration officials will present the budget to City Council on Tuesday, Sept. 23
