Ivy Tech Northeast Expanding To Wabash Campus

IVY TECH

Beginning in July, the Northeast Indiana region will govern another Ivy Tech Community College campus in addition to its Fort Wayne location.

The Ivy Tech State Board of Trustees approved a measure that would shift governance of the Wabash campus from the Lafayette/Kokomo branch to the Northeast region.

Wabash County has been part of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership since 2007, and the move was made to align economic development partners with education partners.

Ivy Tech spokesperson Andrew Welch says he thinks the change will have a positive impact in expanding educational opportunities in the Northeast Indiana region.

“It actually is a positive thing for the presence that Ivy Tech will have at the new Huntington County Community Learning Center because those are about 20 minutes away,” said Welch. “So if we’re able to offer multiple things between those two facilities, then it’ll grow the opportunities for students at Ivy Tech.”

Students at the Wabash campus will still attend their brick and mortar campus after the change, which goes into effect on July 1st.
