New Housing Planned for Downtown Fort Wayne

Another residential development is slated to begin construction in downtown Fort Wayne this year. The announcement was made Thursday.

$20 million in private investment will be met with up to $7 million from the City of Fort Wayne to develop Cityscape Flats. The project includes apartments, row houses, and a parking garage across from Parkview Field downtown.

The City signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the plan with Indianapolis-based Domo Development, that’s scheduled to be formally approved next week.

Scott Sorensen of Domo Development says Tim Ash of Ash Brokerage will be the majority private investor for the project.

“We truly believe this will be a transformational project for the City of Fort Wayne," says Sorensen. "As Mayor Henry alluded to, the downtown market for housing is strong, and we intend to provide Fort Wayne with a project that everybody can be truly proud of.”

City officials say no property taxes or Legacy money will be used to fund the development.

The two-year construction period is expected to begin late this spring.
