WBOI Host Keeps Hoosier History Alive "On The Heritage Trail"

Andy Laverghetta
Tom Castaldi enjoys sharing local and regional history in a variety of formats, including public radio

Indiana native, Tom Castaldi, has a passion for regional history he's been sharing over the airwaves for more than two decades.

Every Monday, during Morning Edition and All Things Considered, you're invited to join him "On the Heritage Trail."

Castaldi lives by the idea that "to know your history is to build pride in your community, and pride building community is what builds towns and cities."

As WBOI's Julia Meek continues to take her monthly looks "Behind the Mic," she got Tom off the trail, and into the studio, to discuss how his "history habit" began, and the many directions it has taken him.

On the Heritage Trail

Produced and hosted by Tom Castaldi
Mondays, during NPR's Morning Edition

You can also find Tom's stories on:
The History Center's "Our Stories Blogspot" The Indiana Historical Bureau's "Blogging Hoosier History"

Arts reporter Julia Meek will continue to look "Behind the Mic" at one of 89.1 WBOI and Classical 94.1 WBNI's show hosts each month, so listen for more of these interviews throughout the year.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
