WBOI Listens Survey - Talk/Entertainment Programming

As the public radio landscape evolves, producers are exploring new program concepts and ways to promote their creations. Interview podcasts, investigative reporting series and other innovative programs have entered the conversation.

89.1 WBOI wants you to weigh in on some of these new programs as we evaluate our weekend program schedule.

That's why we're launching a new project called "WBOI Listens." Each week, we will post two or three programs that may be added to our weekend schedule. In return, we hope you'll let us know what you think so we can shape future programming based on your tastes and interests.

Below, you'll find brief descriptions of two programs in consideration, along with a link to an episode. Please listen, and share your thoughts in our survey, which you can find in this link.

Thank you for your time and feedback as we look towards introducing new weekend programming beginning in the fall of 2017.

Bullseye with Jesse Thorn

"Bullseye from NPR is your curated guide to culture. Jesse Thorn hosts in-depth interviews with brilliant creators, culture picks from our favorite critics and irreverent original comedy. Bullseye has been featured in Time, The New York Times, GQ and McSweeney's." - Maximumfun.org

"Recent guests include actor Danny McBride, jazz bassist Miroslav Vitous, actress Rachel Bloom, jazz musician Esperanza Spalding, comedian Louis C.K., actress Geena Davis, and actors Zach Galifianakis and Michael K. Williams." - NPR.org

Check out this episode released on April 17, 2017 which features Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Armando Iannucci and Billy Bragg as guests.

The Dinner Party Download

"The Dinner Party Download calls itself 'a fast and funny hour of culture, food and conversation - it's public radio's arts & leisure section.'

In every episode you'll learn a joke, brush up on an odd bit of history and wash it down with a themed cocktail recipe, have your burning etiquette questions answered by the likes of Mel Brooks or Aisha Tyler, savor an emerging food trend, and hear your new favorite song.

Plus, unconventional wisdom from hosts Rico Gagliano and Brendan Francis Newnam."

This episode was released on April 14, 2017 and features Rashida Jones, Yo-Yo Ma and Tegan & Sara.
