After Tuesday’s shooting at Purdue University that left one dead, hundreds of students and community members gathered last night for a candle light vigil to honor the victim, Andrew Boldt.
The vigil was held in front of the electrical engineering building, where the shooting occurred and suspect Cody Cousins was arrested by police.
Purdue Student Body President Kyle Pendergast encouraged his classmates to help each other through the aftermath of this tragedy.
Purdue’s police chief says the campus is safe following a shooting Tuesday morning that left one suspect dead on the university's West Lafayette campus.
John Cox says a male suspect was taken into custody within moments of shooting another male in the basement of the Electrical Engineering building.
He says all indications are this was not a random act of violence.
Cox says the suspect surrendered without incident and did not make any statements to arresting officers.
The Electrical Engineering building will remain closed until the investigation is complete.
The state of Indiana is urging farmers to take special precautions during harvest season this year, as the drought has created some additional risks.
